BO Gear FRS Strap Ons

There has been alot of talk lately about stap systems that do not require the use of a metal or plastic cage.
Brisbane company BO Gear has their own version in the works.
Dave from BO Gear kindly sent me a pre-pro set of their Strap Ons to “dirtify”

Coming from using cleats every day it was a bit weird going back to a pedal set-up where I had to think about flipping the pedal around to attach my foot. This was my only complaint about the system though, and I’m sure if I was coming from a cage and strap set-up these would have been perfect.

The Strap Ons, mated with Odyssey Twisted pedals create a huge surface area both above and below your foot, make for an extremely comfortable and solid hold on your shoe, unparalleled by any cage and strap set-up I have ever used (including Toshi Doubles in quad gate cages).

BO Gear’s choice of materials are both rugged and stiff, so they will stand up to the harsh conditions of riding, but still stay open for easy entry of your foot.

My favourite feature of the straps is the ability to change how tight they hold your feet WHILE you are riding, by positioning your feet deeper or shallower in the pedals. For example, when riding somewhere I can push my feet further in for more leverage and control, while if I am just mucking around I can back off a bit and have a quicker release if need be, but not be totally disengaged from my pedals.

For the moment I am pretty happy with my cleat setup, but if that changed I would be turning to the FRS straps long before I considered going back to clips and straps.

good idea but the look like bloody sandals. Maybe i can rock them sans shoes, just socks, and have a astrology magazine in my back pocket.

Nice review. I’m running toshi doubles now, but still find the surface area when I lift is very small. I’m prolly going to order some of these now.
